VA S.A.V.E. Training – April 21, 2026

Learn How to Help a Veteran in Crisis at This Free Training Event
Do you know how to recognize when a veteran may be struggling? On Tuesday, April 21, 2026 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the American Legion in Cheriton, VA, there will be a free VA S.A.V.E. Training session open to the public. This brief, in-person course is designed to help anyone act with care and compassion when they encounter a veteran who may be in crisis or having thoughts of suicide. No VA enrollment is required, and a light lunch will be served.
S.A.V.E. stands for Spot the signs, Ask the critical question, Validate the veteran’s experience, and Encourage next steps. These four simple but powerful steps can make a real difference in someone’s life.
RSVPs are required by April 9, 2026. To register, call 757-655-0086 or email chorton@escsb.org.
If you or someone you know is in crisis, the Veterans Crisis Line is available 24/7 by dialing 988 and pressing 1.
